Community Safety Report
Community Safety Report
In response to the Lapu-Lapu Day Tragedy, the Filipino-Canadian Civic Action Network (FCCAN) developed a community check-in survey that was distributed among community groups and tabled at community festivals around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) over six months in 2025.
These responses to the survey help to build policy recommendations towards building systems to support community safety, mental health, and cultural heritage. The brief survey asked questions related to 1) cultural events and safety, 2) mental health and trauma support, and 3) building safer communities.
FCCAN implores Canadian policymakers to engage further with the million-strong community in Canada, and to serve the public interest by contributing to safer communities and cultural enrichment.
